Fundamental Techniques: Locomotive Tactics/Problems to Solve Offence: Tagging other players Defense: Avoid being tagged Equipment: Cones, hoops, and tagger’s sticks Description of Play: · Within the playing space designate a rectangular zone (Ocean). The outside of the Ocean is the Beach · Across the length of the Ocean, create 2 corridors (Bridges) · Place some hoops (Boats) in the Ocean · Students in scattered position on the Beach · Designate 2-3 taggers (Sharks) · Students can go anywhere on the Beach, and Bridges, but to cross the Ocean they must use the Boats (get in a hoop and shuffle to move it) · When a student is tagged he/she goes outside the playing area · Once 6 players are tagged they may all come back into play · End the game after a designated amount of time to switch the Sharks Layer 1: · Students must use different locomotor patterns to move, teacher calls the types of movement to do Layer 2: · Designate the Sharks and play the tag game Modifications: · Increase/decrease the number of Sharks · Make one way bridges · Students must perform a specific locomotor pattern when using bridges Safety: · Ensure students have their heads up, and are scanning the playing area · Appropriate tagging, touch the legs with the noodles · Make sure students jump into the hoop and not on the edge |
