Fundamental Techniques: Locomotive Tactics/Problems to Solve Offence: Tagging other players Defense: Avoid getting tagged Equipment: Bases Description of Play: · Students in a scattered formation in the playing area · Every student is a tag. On the teacher’s signal students run around trying to tag other players · If tagged, the students must stay where they are, balance on 1 foot, with their hands held in front of them · Students may free frozen players by clapping in their hands and saying “You’re free” 3 times · If a student is freeing a player they are considered on base, therefore they can’t be tagged Layer 1: · Students move around the playing area avoiding other players to become familiar with avoiding collisions, dodging, feinting, etc Layer 2: · Play the game, if you touch someone they are frozen, if you get tagged you are frozen Layer 3: · Add the nose and toes base (students balance on 1 foot, while holding the raised toes in one hand and their nose in the other) Layer 4: · Remove nose and toes base, and add on floor bases Layer 5: · Students can now free themselves by performing a certain amount of jumping jacks pre determined by the teacher Modifications: · Reduce the playing area Safety: · Ensure students keep their heads up · Ensure students use soft tags in an appropriate manner |
