Fundamental Techniques: Locomotive, and Manipulative Tactics/Problems to Solve Offence: Make your opponent move, score points Defense: Prevent your opponent from scoring Equipment: Cones, balls Description of Play: · Students are divided in groups of 6, one ball per group · Teams of 3 on each side of the playing area · Students must underhand throw or tap the ball over the neutral area and into the other teams’ area · Students must catch or tap the ball before or after the 1st bounce · Students are allowed to pass to their teammates before throwing it over the neutral area · Students are also allowed one bounce before catching when passing to a teammate Layer 1: · Pass to teammates and then throw the ball in direction of an opponent Layer 2: · Try to score points; if the ball bounces 2 times on the ground the second time offence scores a point, if the ball goes out of bounds defense scores a point Layer 3: · Allow overhand tap when attacking the other teams’ area Modifications: · Change the playing area’s dimensions as the students get better · Change the type of ball being used to make it easier or harder Safety: · Make sure the students are throwing the ball toward the ground and not an opponents’ face (especially with overhand taps) · Ensure the students keep their heads up and are aware of their surroundings since they are 3 in a small area |
